In The Beginning...

I started making music a long time ago around 1998ish. Back then I had only one program called Sound Forge. All I did was take a sound, like someone's voice, and mess with it until it sounded horrible... or interesting. Then I'd take these crazy noises and burn them on CD's so I could play them loud in my '89 Grand AM, man that car was sweet.

The Dark Ages

Well these crazy sounds evolved to be slightly less horrible and more interesting. It was still tough to make an actual song because I couldn't sequence my loops. Everything was done manually. To fade from one sound to another I'd have to take 2 separate files, fade one out and one in , then merge them together and splice it back into the main song. Quite a pain in the asp to make a simple fade.

The Discovery of Sequencing

Everything changed when my parents gave me Acid. Through the distorted patterns of swirling lights I had a vision.Or maybe Acid is the name of a line of sequencing / loop based music creation software made by Sonic Foundry. The package came with a bunch of pre-made loops that you could string together to make your own "unique" music. This was fun for a while, and taught me the basics of sequencing loop-based songs, but they simply lacked my full creative control.

Maestri In the Beginning

Until the end of high school all I did was use this program and whatever random loops and sounds I could download off the internet. I ended up with a CD I called "Son Slick" and sold it to all my friends and any other random people that wanted one. The CD was mostly inspired by Fat Boy Slim, but I really didn't have the right samples or gear to come up with anything truly unique.

Fruity Loops

Next I found a program called Fruity Loops. After about a year of using Fruity Loops, I was convinced that it was the most powerful loop creation tool available. Even now I am still discovering new ways to manipulate, create, and tweak sounds.

Current Times

I now use a variety of programs to create and sequence my music. As I get money for studio gear I try to improve my creative control by getting stuff like keyboards.

End

I'm ending the Bio here. I'm surprised I ever finish making a whole song.
